What is the Issue: National Importance

If Global warming continues to occur at the current rate then our country faces many problems.

Large areas on the British coast such as the North Norfolk Broads, and many parts of East Anglia face being left underwater. This would not only cause social problems such as unemployment, homelessness and increases in crime levels, but it would also create huge economic problems as the flooded areas would lose business. As a result there would be a negative effect on the country's economy which would have a knock on effects in other countries as well.

Cereal crop production will decrease, causing many problems for farmers as these are the main crops grown in the UK. This would result in the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) decreasing which would cause even more economic problems within the country.

The increase in sea levels will also mean that there will be an increased risk of flooding which can have disastrous effects, as has been seen in previous years (e.g. in the Boscastle floods of 2004 or the Gloucesterhire floods of summer 2007).

But the effects will not just be seen in the UK, they will also be felt Worldwide...
